A twelve-part drawing series that visualizes the structure, function, and adaptive nature of the brain through research-informed imagery.

About the Project

Decoded is a series of twelve sketches that resemble pages from a scientist’s notebook. Each drawing examines a distinct aspect involved in understanding the brain’s complex structure and function, offering insight into different layers of neuroplasticity research. Text and data are interwoven with hand-drawn imagery, inviting close observation of the processes that shape scientific inquiry.

When viewed together, the individual works form a larger background image that mirrors the color burst response of the primary visual cortex. This phenomenon has only recently been observable through advances in imaging technology. As a complete set, the series reflects the curiosity, rigor, and aesthetic dimension inherent in scientific discovery.
